The brief for the main bathroom was that it should be cutting edge in terms of design and that it must cater for two people needing to shower and get ready at the same time in the mornings. The existing bathroom was not big, so attention had to be given to making it appear larger.

So the answer? A complete makeover, ripping out the existing Jacuzzi bath tub and everything else in the old bathroom, to create a wet room, giving plenty of space to shower without the restrictions of an old fashioned cubicle, and a double Belfast sink with individual controls.

The design inspiration came from seeing a piece of dark green slate, quarried in Cumbria. Alexi combined rectangles of dark green slate on the walls, with a floating glass screen partially surrounding the shower area. "We used distinctive chunky chrome T shaped valves and spout fittings with minimalist shower controls, all wall mounted on the green slate", says Alexi.

As for the rest of the bathroom, a large mirror fronted double cupboard was hung above a floating white WC. A brilliant white Italian shallow double sink, with individual controls was installed for an impressive, modern-day look.

"The colours of the wet room had to be kept to a minimum to give it that cutting edge, today feeling, so only dark green, chrome and white were used", says Alexi. Note how careful use of mirrors makes the wetroom appear larger, and non-slip floor tiles in off white on the floor make this into a glamorous wet room to be proud of.
