London interior designers Egerton Designs were asked to refurbish the diningroom and lounge areas of an Oxford hotel. The design scheme was for a very large conservatory and was to look smart, new, and cutting edge, whilst at the same time being accessible to staff from the service point of view.
Space Planning was the key.
The interior design brief was to rip out all the old fixtures and fittings including window treatments and lighting, and then to redesign the space as a modern, considered, and coordinated area to
inspire the hotel guests. Classic eye catching contemporary was the Client brief and a great deal of research went into the final designs and colour scheme.
Cutting edge colours were selected to include beiges, browns, stones and cream. In the dining area, neat square tables in wenghe wood slotted into the conservatory easily with banquette seating against the walls.
The feature of the scheme was a wallpaper by Rapture and Wright with a very large bold pattern with pillars picked out in matching chocolate, and contemporary chandeliers from John Lewis copied from originals by Swarowski hung from the conservatory beams. Engineered oak flooring in russet red and brown with plain cream at the windows in Roman blinds, finished the picture.
Glass with metal balustrades formed an artificial barrier between the dining area and the seating area. |
